Right now, this very moment,
\nRoots spread vast interwoven networks
\nOf lace and hands held in intimate solidarity,
\nFingertips touching in honest exploration,
\nAnd filaments gathering nutrients
\nFrom underground rivulets and raindrops,
\nAnd then, these divinely rooted roots, in their total,
\nMoist and cold darkness, allow light
\nTo draw the sustenance, lift
\nThe sustenance up through the body
\nIn the slowest possible pulse of sweetness.
\nThis is all happening beneath our feet
\nAnd our uncommon awareness. But know it now
\nAnd then do the same with your sorrows.
\nFor your life depends on it,
\nAnd there are others in darkness,
\nDoing their best to hold on.
\nAnd there\u2019s more:
\nTress not only radiate below,
\nExpanding in darkness,
\nThey radiate above, outstretched and planted
\nIn sky, extracting nourishment from the surrounding sphere
\nOf influential light, drawing it in
\nThrough their reaching and holy availability,
\nAnd then they transform their daily bread of sun
\nInto air for all living things.
\nDo the same with your joy.
\nWith fragrant, open hands, share the wild fruits
\nOf self-awareness, and the colorful leaves
\nOf letting go into the moment,
\nAnd the sheer strength of being there,
\nDay in day out, steady and true.
\nBe a living bridge between below and above,
\nIn the clear space of listening and speaking,
\nIn the shared truth of existence sway
\nIn jubilant wonder, dance
\nIn the holy middle of being alive.<\/p>\n
