Last of the snow, may I join you in melting?<\/p>\n
Early frog, with the gold spot between your eyes,
\nteach me everything you know.<\/p>\n
Two carp\u2014one golden, one white, emerge from the murky darkness,
\nmoving slow as afternoon dreams.<\/p>\n
Welcome back heron who never left. Frost sliding from your hunched shoulders.<\/p>\n
Dear lavender field on the neighboring hill. Are you wishing
\nfor something? It\u2019s best you don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
Twisted oak, growing through the cemetery fence,
\nmy heart is tangled in fences too.<\/p>\n
Walking still, I find a weather-washed deer skull. Its antlers
\nhold the sky.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s a man without a home, sitting against an old beech tree,
\nshaking off the world.<\/p>\n
Fly! You\u2019ve come early, rubbing your hands together.
\nWhat mischief are you planning?<\/p>\n
Buttercups, washed in the sun, lining my path through the woods.<\/p>\n
I know\u2014big steps, little steps.
\nJust keep walking.<\/p>\n
