The angel said: \u201cCome, enter the time-world.\u201d
\nI turn, look into the faraway, and think about
\nhow long I\u2019ve lived in the light of an unmoving sun,
\nand how much I miss sharing personalities with animals,
\nthe madness of dreams, and dawdling in the woods–
\nI miss tracing Fibonacci spirals on distant landscapes–
\nI miss analogies, meridians, unmapped roads,
\nand the sounds of wind tangled in trees,
\nI miss self-generated songs, and the long purposes
\nof daydreams, I miss cardinal numbers,
\nand I think about all the Pandora\u2019s boxes waiting
\nto be opened–I miss following the one who laughs
\nand leaves cloven-hoof prints in the wet grass–
\nI want to rescue Blake\u2019s half-dead dragon,
\nand so, looking up at the angel, I smile
\n(not yet showing my teeth), and if you listen
\nto the faraway in the living night, you will hear
\nwhispers, and the laughter of mischief-planning,
\nand the stiff, stirring of wings.<\/p>\n
