I am not interested in the pretense
\nof respectability. I see no reason
\nto put away childish things. Everything
\nis incubation anyway, and even Dionysus
\nplayed with toys.<\/p>\n

Go ahead, look for what leaves the body
\nat death. You\u2019ll find a child in a sun-lit field
\nsinging, making flower crowns
\nfor lions and lambs.<\/p>\n
***<\/p>\n
The masts of the trees guide the turning
\nof the earth. Follow the edge of the night.
\nThe absence of shoreline creates something
\nimmense, like a celestial agriculture
\nof countless stars.<\/p>\n
***<\/p>\n
The doctrines of the day are no longer
\nneeded. Everything is a cipher anyways,
\nand you cannot flatter death by trying
\nto sort them out. Every child is a bird,
\nand unlike the deer, the soul wants to be found.<\/p>\n
***<\/p>\n
The crow lifted suddenly from the side of the road,
\nlooking as if it was going to fly in front of my car,
\nbut, instead, it banked left, and flew back into the field.<\/p>\n
***<\/p>\n
All heartbeats are given, and everything is the source
\nof everything, and everything is amenable to desire,
\nand the magic of farming, the magic of bridges,
\nand every pelican and salamander, every manta ray,
\nand cuttlefish amazes even the angels.<\/p>\n
***<\/p>\n
When we met, you broke the hour-glass
\nof my life and gently poured the sand
\nonto the center of a Chladni plate.
\nThen you took the violin bow, drew it along the edge,
\nand the sand suddenly began to lift
\nand dance and quiver, and all at once–
\nrush towards the edges, forming visible
\nsound-shapes, and then it settled back
\nin a restful sigh of bliss.<\/p>\n
