This is the world of the wind.
\nEverything touching everything,
\nbelieving is wishful, shimmer
\nout and easy into the air,
\ndress everyday as if going
\nto a dance in flowing, loose clothes,
\nsteps light and ready, feather dust
\nthe living room like the gentlest
\nof tornadoes, arms clouds, flex the knees,
\nease into turns, confetti tossed in the parade.
\nThis is the world of the wind.<\/p>\n
This is the world of fire.
\nConsuming all being consumed by all,
\na living furnace, dancing hearth,
\nembers wiggling, rising, drunken fireflies
\nflying upwards, stars burning ancient
\nlight, sinuous and leaping, scandalize
\nlife with a smile. This is the world of fire.<\/p>\n
This is the world of water.
\nEasily disturbed and the better for it,
\nadjusts easily to curves and forms
\nfrom oceans to tears, from tears to sweat,
\nrain and snow dance down and down,
\nwander around a lake, hands in pockets,
\nhead slightly down, ripples draw near
\nencouraging steps, little drips
\nmake great changes, freeze, then thaw
\ninto mist disappearing, as estuaries wash roots
\ndrawing honesty and lies up and through
\nthe body. This is the world of water.<\/p>\n
This is the world of the ground.
\nShared and there when learning to crawl,
\nthere for when jumping up and down
\nis called for, there for first walking the steps
\nof a new dance, there for when limbs unfold
\ninto graceful, memorized movements,
\nthe most consistent thing known to all the ground
\nthere to follow the lead of the journey,
\nthere for the steps of pall bearers,
\nthere for the lowering into graves.
\nThis is the world of the ground.<\/p>\n
