Which Brings Us to Today

I get mixed up sometimes
\nand go around saying:
\n\u201cI am not this, I am not that,\u201d<\/p>\n
until I am left with who I am,
\nwhich isn\u2019t exactly clear, and so
\nI try reverting back to spontaneity.<\/p>\n
One thing I do know is pain
\nis the gap between pleasures,
\nand something shines in all things,<\/p>\n
and that the mind divides, the soul
\nmultiplies, the heart adds,
\nspirit subtracts,<\/p>\n
and when I wake up in the morning
\nmy dreams swiftly and smoothly,
\ntake steps into my life,<\/p>\n
leaving me to remember
\nthere is no stamp of reality. So,
\nsometimes I pray<\/p>\n
to Saint Anthony, like my mom
\nused to tell me to do when I lost
\nsomething, but since I\u2019m not sure<\/p>\n
what it is I\u2019m looking for
\nthis ends up being an act
\nof frustration, and so I keep looking<\/p>\n
anyway. \u201cLook well,\u201d says
\nSomething. \u201cOpening doors
\nand peeking into rooms counts,\u201d<\/p>\n
says the dusty furniture within.
\n\u201cSo does eating an orange,\u201d
\nsays the orange. One time<\/p>\n
I found a dust-covered piano, and ran
\nmy hand along the top, and dust
\nrose into the light, and I swear<\/p>\n
it turned to gold, and so, satisfied
\nfor the moment, I went back and back,
\nknowing everything leads somewhere,<\/p>\n
which brings us to today, and why I am
\ntelling you this. I\u2019m wondering:
\ncan you give me some clue<\/p>\n
as to who I am? You see,
\nI\u2019m on the case, and it\u2019s possible
\nI can only find the answer with you.<\/p>\n
