Wanting to Run<\/p>\n

The day the mantle was draped on his shoulders<\/p>\n
was the day he martyred himself with his surrender<\/p>\n
to his own master.\u00a0 He dropped his life,<\/p>\n
in utter disbelief at Sawan\u2019s feet.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We know he wanted to run.\u00a0 We know<\/p>\n
the letters he wrote, how inconsolable<\/p>\n
he was, how unworthy he felt to take up<\/p>\n
the task set before him.<\/p>\n
His mind must have rattled in shock<\/p>\n
at the sudden, sharp, shattering separation from his dreams.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
From that day, he woke and worked, doing all<\/p>\n
that was asked of him.\u00a0 From that day<\/p>\n
he gilded Dera with the highest example<\/p>\n
of complete obedience.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
His heart must have trembled the first<\/p>\n
time he climbed the steps of the dais to sit<\/p>\n
before the thousands. His heart must have ached<\/p>\n
looking into the frightened faces of those turned away<\/p>\n
from initiation.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And here I am with my hobbling commitment,<\/p>\n
yet bathed in the fruits of his faithfulness, of the fiat<\/p>\n
he gave to the Lord to give birth to the Word<\/p>\n
that lives in my spindrift heart.<\/p>\n
