There\u2019s a way of getting the pillow just right<\/p>\n
behind my head, and my socks cannot be falling<\/p>\n
down to my ankles if I am to sleep.<\/p>\n

Is it true a song hums just behind\/within everything we see?<\/p>\n
I bend to listen to a gardenia, and laugh.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As I drive, repeating five holy words, the rain pulls my car<\/p>\n
ahead, along the road.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Somewhere, someone gets up from the back row<\/p>\n
of a church, and walks for miles, lost, towards home.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I know everything matters in such a way as to not.<\/p>\n
The song keeps flowing.\u00a0 The words–audible light.<\/p>\n
And the rain lifts its silver curtains, and the moon appears<\/p>\n
making the wet road shine.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Someday, I will awaken, and step in from the crowd,<\/p>\n
and follow your voice to where my prayer shawl waits,<\/p>\n
draped over the living room chair.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Until then, I will adjust the pillow, pull up my socks,<\/p>\n
and drift to sleep.<\/p>\n
