when trying to speak<\/p>\n
the poem\u2019s desire.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cBe the wolf,\u201d it might say<\/p>\n
shaking your shadow<\/p>\n
into biting back the words\u2014<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
swallowing them, denying<\/p>\n
your hunger, until you<\/p>\n
can no longer bare it,<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
and drool begins dripping<\/p>\n
from the edges of your mouth,<\/p>\n
and you find yourself<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
baring your teeth, opening<\/p>\n
your throat, and from deep in your guts,<\/p>\n
tear apart the night\u2014howling<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
into the darkness, preying<\/p>\n
on anything that gets in the way<\/p>\n
of your empty belly.<\/p>\n
