Deep in the drapery of the day lily<\/p>\n
A dead bee lies curled in a pool of nectar.<\/p>\n
Why did it die in such a sapid sacristy<\/p>\n
Enshrined in golden silk?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Perhaps it will be the same for us<\/p>\n
As we amble down the tunneled curtains of our lives,<\/p>\n
Past the honeyed stalks of desire,<\/p>\n
Searching for a numinous center?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Will our pouches grow heavy with the precious dust we collect?<\/p>\n
Will we too begin stumbling through the drooping folds<\/p>\n
As the sides of the amphitheater start to close?<\/p>\n
Will we be so dazzled and drunk by the prospects of more<\/p>\n
That we don\u2019t notice we are slipping away from ourselves,<\/p>\n
Drowning in sweetness, unable to turn back?<\/p>\n
