Forest of crones and matriarchs,<\/p>\n
Healers of sky and souls,<\/p>\n
Sentinels of time and warning<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
If you pass this way walk in reverence,<\/p>\n
And gladness\u2014we are here, watching<\/p>\n
Over you\u2014a tribe of sisters and mothers\u2014<\/p>\n
We are here\u2014ordained to preach the gospel<\/p>\n
Of earth and sanctuary\u2014<\/p>\n
Children\u2014we guard your steps,<\/p>\n
And have raised you with the milk of our wisdom\u2014<\/p>\n
It is in your hearts and hands to protect us<\/p>\n
From those who would harm us further from greed,<\/p>\n
As you look up to us, open your ears as best you can\u2014<\/p>\n
Listen with deep soul\u2014<\/p>\n
We sing, and have been singing since the beginning\u2014<\/p>\n
Singing the song of our mother, your grandmother,<\/p>\n
Our song lifts you into the branches<\/p>\n
Of our stories and of yours, we spread the song of our roots\u2014<\/p>\n
And your roots, and the roots of your ancestors\u2014<\/p>\n
We know each and every one of your names\u2014<\/p>\n
We tend your bones, surrounding them with tenderness\u2014<\/p>\n
Holding them in the arms of our roots–<\/p>\n
Listen with deep soul–<\/p>\n
We are here, singing you home.<\/p>\n
