Here is an offering of some recent tweets<\/a> I\u2019ve posted on
\nmy twitter feed<\/a> (Joseph Anthony @ thewonderchild).  These find me in a very
\ndevotional mood.  Maybe it\u2019s Hurricane
\nSandy coming here to Philly, maybe it\u2019s the autumn, it doesn\u2019t need a reason
\nreally, it\u2019s just longing for the Beloved.

Beloved, from the first day I heard your voice my head
\nhas been spinning. <\/font><\/p>\n

Now I stumble around, like a drunk, lost in the melody you
\nsing.<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

Beloved, you have been singing in me ever since I can
\nremember. I try to sing along, <\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

but end up drunk from just listening.<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

On the eve of a hurricane I find myself repeating the
\nBeloved’s name. Not out of fear. <\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

I am just reminded that his love can be like a storm.<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

The Beloved roams the dark forest of my soul, leaving a
\ntrail of votive candles <\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

along the path leading to his chambers.<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

***<\/font><\/p>\n

“What am I supposed to do,” I ask, “drop
\neverything to listen to you sing?” <\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

“No,” you say, “Just everything that keeps
\nyou from dancing.”<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

***<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

***<\/font><\/p>\n

The Beloved moves within me, his robe dusting away the self-pity
\nand shame <\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

from the floor of my mind, clearing a space for us to
\ntalk alone.<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

***<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

Why is it I long to be with you, to listen to you sing,
\nand yet keep adding <\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

more and more distractions, more and more noise to keep
\nme away?<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

Every now and again, something breaks within me, and I
\nweep, dazzled. <\/font><\/p>\n

Then I realize, <\/font><\/p>\n

Beloved, it’s just you, trying to get my
\nattention.<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

***<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

Beloved, I know you want me to play, to have fun, to
\nrejoice, to sing. I also know <\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

there is a time to drop my toys and follow you home.<\/font><\/p>\n

It seems everything I do is just pretending I’m not
\nlistening. The fact is I hear you, <\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

I know you’re calling. I know you only want me home.<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

***<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

Inexplicable, unbelievable, unimaginable–it makes no
\nsense: <\/font><\/p>\n

You have been singing to me <\/font>all these years, never tiring, always <\/font><\/p>\n

f<\/font>ull of love.<\/font><\/p>\n

I see the golden leaves fade to brown, see the aging
\nperson in the mirror. And then <\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n

I think of you Beloved, and I weep, wanting to come home.<\/o:p><\/font><\/p>\n
