It\u2019s there.<\/p>\n
Inside.\u00a0 And that<\/p>\n
Is so easy<\/p>\n
For me to say.<\/p>\n
And for that, I am<\/p>\n
Ever grateful.\u00a0 For you,<\/p>\n
It may not be.<\/p>\n
The furthest thing<\/p>\n
May be a field<\/p>\n
Inside you.<\/p>\n
It might be so far<\/p>\n
Away it may as well<\/p>\n
Not even be there.<\/p>\n
You might be<\/p>\n
Full of vast ink-<\/p>\n
Oceans and fog<\/p>\n
That moves as if<\/p>\n
It was alive\u2014the darkness<\/p>\n
Might be so all<\/p>\n
Encompassing you<\/p>\n
Can\u2019t imagine<\/p>\n
Anything else in there.<\/p>\n
Try this though\u2014<\/p>\n
Close your eyes, and take<\/p>\n
As slow, deep a breath<\/p>\n
To the count of four as you can,<\/p>\n
Hold it gently to<\/p>\n
The count of four,<\/p>\n
Then exhale slowly<\/p>\n
To the count of four,<\/p>\n
Do this sequence three times<\/p>\n
And then low<\/p>\n
A field appears<\/p>\n
In front of you, watch\u2014<\/p>\n
It might be golden wheat,<\/p>\n
It might be soft green<\/p>\n
And full of flowers,<\/p>\n
It might be a field<\/p>\n
Of sunflowers stretching as far<\/p>\n
As the eye can see.<\/p>\n
See the golden field<\/p>\n
Sway as the wind touches<\/p>\n
Each strand with so much<\/p>\n
Tenderness, see how the field<\/p>\n
Ripples with a river of joy from the touch,<\/p>\n
See it\u2014the sun\u2014raying exquisitely<\/p>\n
Humming light\u2014honeyed<\/p>\n
And warm; and see<\/p>\n
Blue sky arching over<\/p>\n
A perfectly color-<\/p>\n
Coordinated relationship<\/p>\n
With the field.<\/p>\n
Notice you are<\/p>\n
Standing just outside<\/p>\n
The field. Realize<\/p>\n
The wheat, the grass, the wild flowers<\/p>\n
Nearly all come up<\/p>\n
To your waist–<\/p>\n
Except the sunflowers\u2014<\/p>\n
See them bowing their heads<\/p>\n
To smile upon you\u2014<\/p>\n
And there you are just<\/p>\n
On the edge of the field.<\/p>\n
You reach out your hand,<\/p>\n
And brush the top of the grass.<\/p>\n
Now, you can either step into the field<\/p>\n
Or you can turn around<\/p>\n
Back to whatever it is<\/p>\n
That\u2019s behind you.\u00a0 There<\/p>\n
You have a choice:<\/p>\n
Brilliant, luminous light-touched<\/p>\n
Field, darkness that isn\u2019t<\/p>\n
The nourishing kind, but draining.<\/p>\n
Whatever it is you choose,<\/p>\n
Know this:\u00a0 you now have<\/p>\n
A field inside you,<\/p>\n
And it will always be there,<\/p>\n
It always has been there<\/p>\n
Swaying beneath the breath<\/p>\n
Of the one who loves you.<\/p>\n
The next step is not just<\/p>\n
Up to you.\u00a0 I mean, it is, and also<\/p>\n
There are forces–<\/p>\n
Currents and hands<\/p>\n
Pushing and pulling, guiding,<\/p>\n
Persuading, nudging, influencing<\/p>\n
The way.\u00a0 And there are the ones<\/p>\n
Who, for whatever the reasons<\/p>\n
Cannot choose\u2014illnesses of many kinds<\/p>\n
Perhaps inhibit the ability to freely choose\u2014<\/p>\n
Those will all be born along<\/p>\n
And cared for as they bloom<\/p>\n
Into full health and radiance.<\/p>\n
For those who can, and I believe<\/p>\n
You are one of them\u2014you<\/p>\n
Are blessed to be able to choose. Finally, there<\/p>\n
Appears a thousand fireflies<\/p>\n
Floating and bobbing,<\/p>\n
Right there, in the daylight,<\/p>\n
Illuminating light upon light,<\/p>\n
And whatever you do<\/p>\n
When the time comes to decide,<\/p>\n
Remember this: there is field inside you,<\/p>\n
Swaying beneath the breath of the one<\/p>\n
Who loves you.<\/p>\n
