We all know<\/p>\n
Whose birthday it is today:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Yours.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Throughout the womb<\/p>\n
Of this dark year<\/p>\n
Of tyrants and blindness,<\/p>\n
You formed yourself<\/p>\n
Afresh and full of doing.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
You made it, you did it.<\/p>\n
You are born today,<\/p>\n
A child of light, wonderful,<\/p>\n
A counselor I am sure<\/p>\n
To someone, and yes, why not\u2014<\/p>\n
Mighty Divine Being,<\/p>\n
Everlasting, non-gendered\u2014<\/p>\n
Unless you want a gender\u2014<\/p>\n
Person, and Prince, Princess,<\/p>\n
Fairy Queen, Unicorn Badass,<\/p>\n
Of Peace.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And for all of you<\/p>\n
Thinking this poem is<\/p>\n
Heretical—grow up,<\/p>\n
Or down, whichever you need,<\/p>\n
And while doing so<\/p>\n
Look into the eyes of your friends,<\/p>\n
See oceans of mysterious wisdom<\/p>\n
Reflecting back at you,<\/p>\n
And know you reflect back<\/p>\n
The same, and know too,<\/p>\n
The mirror reflects a light<\/p>\n
Begotten and holy and never before<\/p>\n
Seen or felt or known<\/p>\n
On this planet.\u00a0 You<\/p>\n
Are born today anew<\/p>\n
To save the world<\/p>\n
By being who you<\/p>\n
Are born to be.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And if your heart or life<\/p>\n
Or room feels like a manger,<\/p>\n
That\u2019s alright for today,<\/p>\n
And even for tomorrow\u2014<\/p>\n
Let the kindly animals<\/p>\n
With the luminous, marble eyes<\/p>\n
Come and nibble from your hands,<\/p>\n
Laugh and chortle as you grow,<\/p>\n
As you know, every time<\/p>\n
You hear the word: Jesus,<\/p>\n
Christ, God\u2014they are<\/p>\n
Referring to you.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Born today you are,<\/p>\n
Born today you ever will be,<\/p>\n
Born today, this day<\/p>\n
Of days, you are here,<\/p>\n
A star, a child, the magi,<\/p>\n
A lamb, a shepherd, an angel,<\/p>\n
A parent to yourself<\/p>\n
Who may be being told<\/p>\n
In a dream to move on<\/p>\n
To safer lands\u2014rejoice,<\/p>\n
You are here, rejoice<\/p>\n
You are the light, rejoice<\/p>\n
The safer land is there,<\/p>\n
In your voice creating the world.<\/p>\n
