Have you ever stopped<\/p>\n
To not think?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
OK–then think<\/p>\n
Of this:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
You are a super hero<\/p>\n
Every time you lift<\/p>\n
Your hand to open<\/p>\n
The door.\u00a0 Every time<\/p>\n
You step out into<\/p>\n
The world, you push<\/p>\n
Space aside, making room<\/p>\n
For your own velocity<\/p>\n
And unfolding form;<\/p>\n
Every time you get up<\/p>\n
In the morning,<\/p>\n
You thwart gravity–<\/p>\n
Putting it in its place\u2014<\/p>\n
Behind you, below you.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Seeing this is the case<\/p>\n
Why not infuse your every movement<\/p>\n
And gesture with a certain<\/p>\n
Outrageous confidence,<\/p>\n
Purpose, a twinge of rage,<\/p>\n
And a boatload<\/p>\n
Of fun?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And while you could,<\/p>\n
If ever called upon,<\/p>\n
Save a life with a mere touch<\/p>\n
Of your hand–<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Today, just go about<\/p>\n
Your day knowing<\/p>\n
You can do anything<\/p>\n
You need.\u00a0 Because<\/p>\n
Remember: you adjust<\/p>\n
Space\u2014back space<\/p>\n
And forward space, above<\/p>\n
Space, and even below space<\/p>\n
To suit your needs,<\/p>\n
You mock gravity<\/p>\n
Every time you walk.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And before you<\/p>\n
Start thinking again<\/p>\n
Of your seemingly little life<\/p>\n
And how ordinary it appears,<\/p>\n
And how you scoff<\/p>\n
At this poem\u2014<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Know this in your very bones:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
You are ridiculously amazing,<\/p>\n
Your gifts are far-fetched<\/p>\n
And magnificent\u2014they are<\/p>\n
Real.\u00a0 Not something made up<\/p>\n
In lines and little dots<\/p>\n
On a page or CGI effects<\/p>\n
On a screen\u2014<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Getting up and out<\/p>\n
Of bed in a world<\/p>\n
Of such colossal uncertainty<\/p>\n
Takes guts\u2014nothing less<\/p>\n
Than superpowers.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And it\u2019s OK to feel<\/p>\n
Proud and self-assured<\/p>\n
In who you are\u2014<\/p>\n
It\u2019s ok to have brooding moments<\/p>\n
Of doubt and questioning,<\/p>\n
Because, after all, you<\/p>\n
Survived some freak accident<\/p>\n
That changed you<\/p>\n
And imbued you<\/p>\n
With astonishing abilities\u2014<\/p>\n
Perhaps you crashed<\/p>\n
Here from another dying world<\/p>\n
Only to be raised<\/p>\n
By strangers, or wolves<\/p>\n
Until you decided it was<\/p>\n
Time to throw open your cape<\/p>\n
Like the dawn throwing off the night,<\/p>\n
And glide out and over<\/p>\n
The trees and cities<\/p>\n
And become the eyes and hands<\/p>\n
Of justice and all that is good, by virtue<\/p>\n
Of the fact you are you<\/p>\n
And no one else\u2014<\/p>\n
And go help save the world.<\/p>\n
