She came to me in silence,<\/p>\n
Stepping from a shroud of light,<\/p>\n
I saw her coming from a long distance away,<\/p>\n
And stood as still as I could.<\/p>\n
When she reached me<\/p>\n
And looked at me with tear-filled eyes,<\/p>\n
I offered her my hand and she took it,<\/p>\n
And we sat in the field<\/p>\n
For long summer hours as she wept without ceasing,<\/p>\n
Dragonflies and bees and dandelion seeds<\/p>\n
Floated around us like dreams.<\/p>\n
We sat there in the field\u2014<\/p>\n
Her sobbing from a river of sadness,<\/p>\n
Me bearing witness to her pain.<\/p>\n
And this time, never once trying<\/p>\n
To take away her suffering.\u00a0 This time,<\/p>\n
Surrounded by the gentle hum of angel wings,<\/p>\n
This time honoring who she was,<\/p>\n
I listened, wide eyed, and heart open,<\/p>\n
As she filled my soul with tears.<\/p>\n
