\nAt some point
\nFireflies
\nFade into autumn,
\nTheir blooms
\nOf light
\nExtinguish
\nInto darkness;
\nFlowers
\nDrip their silken petals
\nOne by one,
\nAnd draw
\nTheir leaves
\nInwards against
\nThieving November winds;
\nFrogs
\nWith their golden eyes
\nVanish
\nFrom the pond\u2019s murky edge;
\nDeer step through
\nMist-skirted trees,
\nAnd with a flick
\nOf their white tails
\nDisappear.<\/p>\n

 
\nRight now, here,
\nToday, your life
\nAnd mine
\nAre dissolving
\nInto light,
\nAnd at some point
\nWe will lift
\nFrom the pages
\nOf our lives
\nAnd simply
\nBe gone\u2014written
\nIn the stars.<\/p>\n

 
\nThing is,
\nLife is long, like
\nA lazy, sun-drunken
\nSummer afternoon,
\nAnd it\u2019s short,
\nLike the afore mentioned
\nWink of the firefly.
\nEither way
\nYou and I
\nAre being called<\/p>\n

 
\nAnd we are also the ones
\nDoing the calling.<\/p>\n

 
\nBeauty needs us,
\nFaith requires of us,
\nLove invites us
\nTo participate
\nIn the hum
\nAnd wonder
\nOf our interwoven lives;<\/p>\n

 
\nAnd we call out\u2014
\nWe bring to ourselves
\nOpen roads
\nAnd closed doors,
\nEverything
\nWe want and need\u2014
\nEverything
\nWe are meant and ache
\nTo be. And of course,<\/p>\n

 
\nBy the time
\nYou read this
\nI might already
\nBe gone; I might
\nBe hovering
\nRight now
\nOver your shoulder
\nAnd nudging you
\nTo smile and get out there
\nAnd amaze the world,
\nAmaze yourself.<\/p>\n

 
\nAnd whether or not
\nI am still alive
\nWhen you read this,
\nYou and I
\nHave been
\nDrawn together
\nIn this moment,
\nAt this point
\nIn time–
\nAnd we have a job to do,
\nA job that isn\u2019t
\nSo much a job
\nAs it is a story
\nThat only you and I
\nCan tell.<\/p>\n

 
\nSo, here\u2019s the thing:
\nI want to show the world
\nWho I really am.
\nWill you help me
\nTell this part
\nOf the story?
\nAnd what about you?<\/p>\n

 
\nWhat is it you
\nWant to do and say?
\nWhatever it is,
\nAllow me
\nTo be with you
\nEither
\nFrom my place
\nOf light beyond light,
\nOr from here,
\nIn these words–
\nAllow me,
\nAt this moment in time
\nTo be here
\nFor you.<\/p>\n
